Johnny Cash “There's A Mother Always Waiting”
from From Memphis To Hollywood, Bootleg Vol. II, Disc 2, The 1960's (Colombia/Legacy 2011) N  —Legend follows legend, great series of 1950 & 60's rarities just released from the Columbia vaults, including this unreleased gem written by J. Thornton.


Lori McKenna “Lorraine” (self 2004) N  —Lori wrote the title song about her Mother on her great new release. Kim "Bette Davis Eyes" Carnes contributes her distinctive back-up vocals.


Kristian Bush “Mama You've Been On My Mind”
from The Times They Are A Changin', A Tribute To Bob Dylan, Vol. 2 (Sister Ruby Records 1994) —Before he became a country Mega - Star as part of Sugarland with Jennifer Nettles, he sang on this Dylan tribute, also a former member of Billy Pilgrim and a songwriting buddy of Ellis Paul.


Slaid Cleaves “Quick As Dreams”
from Wishbones (Philo 2004) —For derby longshot "Animal Kingdom", Slaid wrote this after reading Laura Hillenbrand's wonderful " Seabiscuit". At Off Broadway June 22.


Rod Picott “Black T-Shirt”
from Welding Burns (welding rod music rodpicott.com 2011) N  —a Co-Write with his Maine buddy, Slaid, bandmates in their Springsteen inspired garage band "The Magic Rats". Great fan funded new release from Rod.


Kimmie Rhodes with Joe Ely “Catch The Wind”
from Dreams of Flying (Sun Bird 2011) N  —Only non original is this Donavan classic, sung with Joe Ely, produced by her son Gabe Rhodes, who also sings and plays a multitude of instruments. Kimmie's a former headliner at Twangefest.


Joe Crookston “Darkling & The BlueBird Jubilee”
from Darkling & the BlueBird Jubilee (Milagrito Records 2011) N  —A few years back Ed Brock brought Larry and I a Joe Crookson CD from Kerrville, his new release makes us even bigger fans, Thanks, Ed.


Ryan Kirby “Postcard from Vermont” (Ryan Kirby 2011) —A St. Louisan since 2000, Ryan features 10 great original tunes on his solo debut, also look for his band The Gravelmen around town.


Michael Fracasso “Ada, OK (feat. Patty Griffin)”
from Saint Monday (Michael Fracasso 2011) N  —A fine new release from one of our favorites, a very talented songwriter with a distinctive voice, has spent a few nights on Larry and Kathy Weir's couch. Catch him 7/13-17 Okema Ok. Woody Guthrie Fest.


Scott Nolan “Bad Liver / Broken Heart”
from Receiver / Reflector (Transdigital 66 2008) —Heard Scott's song by Hayes Carll a lot on the station, thought I'd play the original featuring Gurf Morlix and Joanna Miller, Scott's been producing Adam Caroll recently.


Hayes Carll “Down The Road Tonight”
from Little Rock (Highway 87 2004) —From Hayes's debut, he'll kick off Twangefest June 8 at the Paegant, with Elizabeth Cook, and Kentucky Knife Fight, great line-up every night, as usual !!!!


Don Lange “Here's To You Rounders”
from Take the Children and Run (Barking Spider donlange.com 2011) N  —A re-recording of Don's great song from his Flying Fish days, order great music and award winning wine fron Don's website.


Bob Dylan “If You See Her, Say Hello”
from Blood on the Tracks (Columbia 1974) —Bob's 70 on May 24, KDHX will celebrate the event 5/27 at Off Broadway with a fundraiser/tribute presented by lots of local bands and singers, great music for a fine cause.


Peter Cooper with Nanci Griffith, Todd Snider, & Fayssoux McLean Starling “Mission Door” (Red Beet Records 2008) —Peter and friends tackling an Eric Taylor song, Peter & Eric Brace will be at the Focal Point in October, Eric at a house concert in July, loghouseconcerts.com.


The Tom Russell Band “Annette”
from Live at Off Broadway May 8, 1992 (Live Recording 1992) —Tom's last band appearence at Off Broadway, maybe you were there ?? Tom will be back with Thad Beckman Oct. 7. New cd "Mesabi" due this summer.


Gretchen Peters “On a Bus to St. Cloud”
from Circus Girl: The Best of Gretchen Peters (Scarlet Letter 2009) —Gretchen also has a new cd ready to go, Gretchen and new husband Barry Walsh will join Tom Russell at the Mt.Olive Turner Hall Sat. October 8.

Hail The Size “Crazy Girl (feat. Maria McKee)”
from I Can't Die In LA (GoodDrummer Music ASCAP 2009) —Midwesteners Charlie Ezell and Matt North recruit Marie McKee and put out a wonderful overlooked cd.


Adam Carroll “Bubble Gum”
from South of Town (Down Hole Records 2006) —Adam's dynamite Lloyd Maine's produced debut, he's proven since that he has staying power, need to get him to St. Louis.


Don Schlitz “Cigarette”
from Allergic To Crazy (deVere Records 2010) N  —Country hit maker, "The Gambler", "When You Say Nothing At All", ETC. more than holds his own with these 10 new originals.


Mickey Clark “Red Velvet Cake”
from Winding Highways (Ear X-Tacy Records 2009) —My Mom made the world's best Red Velvet Cake, I'm happy Mickey wrote this song for me, the great Jim Rooney produces. Luv Ya Mom !!!
