John Stewart “Hero From The War”
from California Bloodlines/Willard (Minus 2) (Bear Family 1989) —Welcome, kicking off our Memorial Day show with the late John Stewart, this song and John's voice both give me goose bumps

Audrey Auld “And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda”
from Billabong Song - EP (Reckless Records 2009) —Audrey does a great cover of this Eric Bogle song about the tragedies of war.

Michael Elwood “The Major”
from Scarecrow's Prayer (AGUA AZUL RECORDS 1991) —Where have you gone Michael ???? Another Memorial Day tune from a first rate Texas songwriter who is way too talented to not be doing music.

Claire Lynch “Kennesaw Line”
from Crowd Favorites (Rounder Records www.rounderrecords.com 2007) —The most devastating war of all, this classic by Don Oja Dunaway captures the tragedy and heartbreak, sung beautifully by Claire lynch.

Eric Taylor W/Nanci Griffith “Mission Door”
from Live at the Red Shack (Blue Ruby 2011) —Eric and his X-wife do a wonderful live reading, Eric will be back in town, July 1, at Log House Concerts in rural Edwardsville, go to LOGHOUSECONCERTS.COM for details.

David Munyon “OL' 55”
from Big Shoes (Stockfisch Records 2009) —David does his favorite covers, besides this Tom Waits classic he tackles John Prine, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, John Fogarty, Springsteen, Neil Young, Lee Clayton, & Lennon and McCartney.

Scott Nolan “You Rock We Roll”
from Montgomery Eldorado (Transdigital 66 2011) —Wonderful Canadian Producer/Singer/Songwriter with one of my favorite recent releases of 10 great originals backed by his first class band.

Kasey Chambers “Luka”
from STORYBOOK (Liberation Music 2011) —Aussie songstress covers Suzanne Vega and 14 more of her biggest influences, has Kasey ever sang a bad song ?

Adam Carroll “Rice Birds”
from Far Away Blues (Blue Corn Music 2005) —My favorite of a stellar group of young Texas songwriters, this effort produced by the very busy Lloyd Maines.

John Fullbright “DAYDREAMER”
from From The Ground Up (Blue Dirt Records 2012) N  —Larry Weir, about 5 years ago came back from the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival raving about a teenager from Okemah, that teen has finally made a cd and WOW !! was Larry right, best CD I've heard this year, remember where you heard him first.

Gretchen Peters W/Rodney Crowell “Dark Angel”
from Hello Cruel World (Gretchen Peters 2012) N  —Another one sure to be on my 2012 top ten list, Gretchen is joined by the great Rodney Crowell, the preacher who married her and Barry.

Liz Stringer “The Road's Inglorious End”
from Tides Of Time (One Little Indian 2010) —Another singer/songwriter from down under, discovered Liz as part of Shackleton 3 with Mick Thomas & Anna Burley. Highly recommended.

Great Big Sea “Follow Me Back”
from Safe Upon the Shore (Warner Music Canada 2010) —GBS is Alan Doyle, Bob Hallett, & Sean McCann duet vocalist Jeen O'brien co-wrote this one with Bob. High energy Nova Scotia trio, great live act !!

Greg Jacobs “River Run Dry (Live)”
from Lucky (Live) (Blue Door Records 2011) —A singer/songwriter you should know better live from the legendary Blue Door in Oklahoma City. Catch him at the Woody Guthrie Free Folk Festival (100 th annivesary of his birth) July 11-15 at Okemah.

David Rodriguez “Gambler's Angel”
from Racing Aimless (Waving Fish Music 2012) —Great to have new music from David, I'll send this one out to Larry Weir, I know how excited he would have been.

Adam Carroll W/Ray Wylie Hubbard “Last Day Of Grace”
from Far Away Blues (Blue Corn Music 2005) R  —A request for Ray Wylie Hubbard and I thought of this duet with Adam that they co-wrote, hope they do more together, and I hope Adam comes to town.

Bruce Robison “Travellin' Soldier”
from Bruce Robison (Vireo Records 1995) —Back to our Memorial Day Tributes, I'm sure this song has paid a lot of bills for Bruce and Kelly, a mega hit for the Dixie Chicks, that's what happens when your brother marries one of the Chicks !!

Blue Wing “Black Diamond”
from Blue Wing (Moonlight Gold Productions 1998) —A group that's no longer together, great civil war song written by Jeff Trathen & Dan Crook, later covered by Katy Moffatt and David Wilkie and Cowby Celtic.

Turnpike Troubadours “Southeastern Son”
from Goodbye Normal Street (Thirty Tigers 2012) N  —Written by Evan Felker, the 3rd impressive release from these Oklahoma rockers.

Steve Earle with The Pogues “Johnny Come Lately”
from Copperhead Road (Uni Records 1988) —Steve seems to love Celtic music and who better to team up with than Shane McCowan and the Pogues, would love to see them do a whole album together.

Tom Russell “Manzanar”
from Box of Visions (Philo 1993) —Not all the victims of war were the soldiers

Greg Trooper with the Flatirons “EVERYWHERE”
from Everywhere (Black Hole 1992) —Thanks for listening, this show is for my Son-in-Law Larry just back from Afghanistan, and for my Uncles Eddie and Bernie who paid the supreme sacrifice in France and Vietnam, Thanks for the freedom to do this !!!!
