Roy Newman & His Boys “She's Doggin' Me” from Western Swing Chronicles, Volume 5 (Origin Jazz Library 2010) N —Cecil Brower creates a wonderful intro to this song with a riff from Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Bob Dunn knew how to play the blues. Recorded in 1937 for Vocalion.Buy it!
The Lucky Stars “The Tattooed Lady” from Stay Out Late With The Lucky Stars CD ALBUM (Fate Records 2005) —First recorded in the 1950s by Skeets McDonald, steel player Jeremy Wakefield takes the lead vocal on this one. Jeremy wrote one of the essays in the new Bob Dunn release below.Buy it!

Lefty Frizzell “California Blues(Blue Yodel No 4)” from Life's Like Poetry, Volume 2 (Bear Family 1984) —From the Columbia label a couple of years later. Lefty recorded a number of songs written by one of his big influences, Jimmie Rodgers.Buy it!
