Guy Clark “To Live Is To Fly”
from Old Friends (Sugar Hill Records www.sugarhillrecords.com 1989) —Guy almost always features a song by his longtime friend on all of his releases. Guy turns 70 on November 6.


Barb Donovan with Townes Van Zandt “I'll Be There In The Morning”
from Angelina (Gregor Records 1996) —One of the last things Townes recorded, may even be the last thing, before his untimely demise 01/01/1997, hard to believe it's going on 15 years.


Pierce Pettis “Georgia Moon”

from Dark River: Songs of the Civil War Era (Blue Corn 2011) —Austin artists with wonderful takes on these civil war era tunes, also includes Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves, Rich Brotherton, Warren Hood, Rita Hoskins, John Dee Graham, and many more, great songwriting from the 1800's.


John Prine “Flashback Blues”
from The Singing Mailman Delivers (Oh Boy Records www.ohboy.com 2011) —John Prine returns to the Touhill December 3, this song is a young John Prine 1970, on a release of his first demo tape.


J.D. Souther “Best Of My Love”
from Natural History (EOM 2011) —J.D. Souther will bring his many hits and great chops to the Old Rock House listening room series on October 20.


Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit “Alabaama Pines”

Jason Boland & the Stragglers “Woody's Song”
from Rancho Alto (Thirty Tigers www.thirtytigers.com 2011) —Jason Boland with a fine new Lloyd Maines produced cd will make, what I think is his St. Louis debut at Off Broadway, on November 2.
