Time zone: central

Old Crow Medicine Show “Little Sadie”
from Troubles Up And Down The Road (self 2001) —Today's show is a trip down memory lane to that mythical year of 2001, when I first came on air. Got to see them at MerleFest in 2001 I believe.

Ill-Mo Boys “Handsome Molly”
from Laugh and Grow Fat (Vigortone www.vigortonerecords.com 2001) L —Well played here at 88.1, our local talent.

Tom, Brad & Alice “Dora Dean”
from We'll Die in the Pig Pen Fighting (Copper Creek www.coppercreekrec.com 2001) —Music Bed Hour 1. Got to see them at Merlefest too.

Danny Barnes & Thee Old Codgers “All Alone for Christmas”
from Things I Done Wrong (Terminus Records 2001) —In 2001 I started co-hosting the Tuesday Morning Show/Morning Show Tuesday and eventually titled When The Levee Breaks with Mary Kaye. In 2006 I began doing Uncontrollable Urge on Weds at 2pm

Blind Boys of Alabama “Run On For A Long Time”
from Spirit Of The Century (Real World 2001) —They had a few records out in the early 00s that were hits here at 88.1fm.

Bob Dylan “Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum”
from Love and Theft (Columbia 2001) —Good record for Dylan to kick off the new Century with.

Otis Taylor “Ain't No Cowgirl”
from White African (NorthernBlues Music 2001) —I discovered Otis Taylor (this record) on the shelves at KDHX. He's had a great recording career ever since then too (and before, but of cours I made him popular)

Robbie Fulks “Burn On Love Fire”
from 13 Hillbilly Giants (Bloodshot Records www.bloodshotrecords.com 2001) —My sister gave me this CD for xmas that year.

Kelly Hogan “No, Bobby Don't”
from Because It Feel Good (Bloodshot Records www.bloodshotrecords.com 2001) —My theme song.

The Bottle Rockets “Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day”
from Songs of Sahm (Bloodshot www.bloodshotrecords.com 2001) —And we'll send this Bloodshot records set out to Fred Friction who did Fishin' With Dynamite for years here at KDHX, until his retirement this spring.

Jonathan Richman “Give Paris One More Chance”
from Her Mystery Not of High Heels and Eye Shadow (Vapor Records 2001) —Because France largely opposed war in Iraq/Afghanistan, this song actually became an anti-war song, post 9/11.

Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire “Two Way Action”
from The Swimming Hour (Rykodisc 2001) —Another big hit here on 88.1.

Gillian Welch “My First Lover”
from Time (The Revalator) CD Album (Acony 2001) —Another hit record on KDHX. Quicksilver Girl.

Rod Picott “Tiger Tom Dixon's Blues” (The Orchard 2001) —Larry Weir turned me on to Slaid Cleves musical friend Rod Picott. Larry loved songs about boxers.

Emmylou Harris “Barbara Allen”
from Songcatcher sndtk (Vanguard Records vanguardrecords.com 2001) —And another one in memory of Larry Weir.

John Hartford “Gentle On My Mind”
from John Hartford : RCA Country Legends (RCA 2001) —1967. I'm cheating just for this song, because it seems like a) a good song to send out to Magnolia Ave, b) we lost John Hartford in 2001 and c) the compilation came out in 2001.

NoMeansNo “The Graveyard Shift [Live]”
from "A Reasonable Facsimile To What You Witnessed Tonight" (Wrong Records 2001) —A bonus live album that came with a digitial version of their 2010 Tour EP 1. On a wrap around bracelet USB drive. I believe they played the Creepy Crawl in 2001 on this tour, possibly late 2000.

The Ex “Time Flies”
from Dizzy Spells (Touch and Go Records 2001) —Don't know when the last time NoMeansNo & The Ex played together was, never got to see that double bill but I know they did it in the 80s & 90s in Europe. This is a great record by them too.

Tomorrow's Caveman “Mannequin Mutiny”
from Today (Chucklehead 2001) L —2nd Hour Music Bed.

The (International) Noise Conspiracy “Up For Sale”
from A New Morning, Changing Weather (Epitaph / Burning Heart 2001) —This old building is up for sale.

The Dirtbombs “Chains Of Love”
from Ulltraglide In Black (In The Red 2001) —Their new record of Bubblegum music is getting a lot of attention here and on other shows, here they are paying tribute to 70s Funk & Soul

Junior Brown “Cagey Bea”
from Mixed Bag (Curb 2001) R  —Chris Lawyer got a request for Junior Brown last week, doesn't quit fit the Hip City theme, but here's a good one from 2001.

Manu Chao “La Chinita”
from Proxima Estacion: Esperanza (Virgin/Radio Bemba 2001)

Kirsty Maccoll “England 2 Colombia 0”
from Tropical Brainstorm (V2 1999) —And we lost Kirsty right before this came out at the end of 2000.

Sloan “The Other Man”
from Pretty Together (murderecords 2001) —Great song about well The Other Man.

El Vez “Lust for Christ”
from Boxing With God - Music from and Inspired By the Gospel Show (Sympathy for the Record Industry 45 2001) —With allusions to The Jam, The Beatles & more, I usually play this one around Xmas.

Michael Franti & Spearhead “Stay Human (All The Freaky People)”
from Stay Human (Boo Boo Wax 2001)
