Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerrard “Montana Cowboy” from Hazel Dickens and Alice Gerard (Rounder www.rounder.com 1998) —One of my favorite female duet acts of all time. You can neither buy nor rent the kind of authenticity heard in their voices.Buy it!
The David Bromberg Quartet “Dark Hollow” from FestivaLink presents The David Bromberg Quartet at MerleFest 4/29/06 (festivalink.net 2006) —Followed by one of my favorite musicians, helped out by Sam Bush, Jay Ungar, Tony Rice, et. al. I was lucky enough to be at MerleFest for this 2006 performance.Buy it!
Johnny and June Carter Cash “Jackson” from At Folsom Prison (Sony BMG 2008) —A 2-disc release of the classic live concert in the volatile year of 1968, it includes much previously unreleased material from the other show Johnny did that day.Buy it!
Jesse Dayton and Brennen Leigh “Long Legged Guitar Pickin' Man” from Holding Our Own and Other Country Gold Duets (Stag 2007) —Johnny and June performed this at Folsom Prison and it's included in the second show material. This is a wonderful cover and Jesse's guitar is as hot as Carl Perkins.Buy it!
Bill Mounce and Sons of the South “What's Bob Done” from Western Swing Chronicles, Volume 5 (Origin Jazz Library 2010) —Another cut featuring the great Bob Dunn on steel guitar. The title of this one plays on Bob's name.Buy it!
The Lucky Stars “(Mama's Got) The Rundown Daddy Blues” from Stay Out Late With The Lucky Stars CD ALBUM (Fate Records 2005) —TLS is a great Western swing/honky tonk outfit from the LA area. I just wish they were a bit more prolific--two albums in 10 years.Buy it!
Asleep at the Wheel with Lyle Lovett “Blues for Dixie” from A Tribute to the Music of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys (Liberty 1993) —This is the first of the two Bob Wills tribute albums The Wheel put out; the second was 1999's Ride With Bob.Buy it!

Porter Wagoner “Eleven Cent Cotton” from Wagonmaster (Anti/Epitaph 2007) —Marty Stuart produced Porter's last album, wrote a song for him on his latest release and continues to pay homage to him by way of his weekly TV show on the RFD network.Buy it!
The Louvin Brothers “Wreck on the Highway” from When I Stop Dreaming: The Best of the Louvin Brothers (Razor & Tie 1995) —Recorded for Capitol in 1962, this song is more closely associated with Roy Acuff. Players include Jimmy Capps, Cowboy Copas, Shot Jackson, Junior Huskey and Howdy Forrester.Buy it!
Willie Nelson and the Family Band “Will The Circle Be Unbroken (Live)” from The Troublemaker (Sony 2004) —Recorded forty years ago at the Texas Opry House, this is a bonus track on the cd version of this album, which was one of three produced while Willie was with the Atlantic label in the early '70sBuy it!
