Gretchen Peters “The Aviator's Song”
from Halcyon (Scarlet Letter Records 2009) —Gretchen's Dad survived being shot down in WWII, prompting her great tribute to him. Gretchen and her husband, Barry Walsh will be at the Mt.Olive Turner Hall Sat. 10/08 with Tom Russell.
Chuck Brodsky “Roberto”
from Subtotal Eclipse (Chuck Brodsky Records 2011) —Not a Dad song, but a tribute to Roberto Clemente from the master of Baseball songs, a great new cd produced by muti-instrumentalist extraordinare, Nova Scotia's, J.P.Cormier.
Scott Miller “Daddy Raised A Boy”
from Are You With Me? (self 2000) —Live version of Scott's tribute to his Dad, from his great self produced live cd from 10 years back.
Dave Alvin “The Man In The Bed”
from Ashgrove (Yep Roc www.yeproc.com 2004) —Dave dad suffered from Parkinsons disease, prompting Daves touching song. Dave & the Guilty Ones, Off Broadway 7/7 the Skeletons open.
The Everly Brothers “THAT SILVER HAIRED DADDY of MINE”
from Songs Our Daddy Taught Us (Rhino unk 1988) —The first big hit for mega multi-million selling songwriter Gene Autry, written with his wife's Uncle Jimmy Long and sang only as the Everly Brothers can.
Tom Russell “Throwin' Horseshoes At the Moon”
from The Man from God Knows Where (Hightone 1999) —Tom with Iris Dement from his great Immigrant Song Cycle, Tom at Off Broadway 10/07, Mt.olive 10/08 with Gretchen Peters, new cd "Mesabi" out Sept. 1.
