Pierce Pettis “Georgia Moon”
from State of Grace (Compass Records 2001) —Pierce will be in town 10/14 at the Eliot Chapel, Soulstice Cafe, in Kirkwood for an 8 PM show. The debut of a new concert series. This is my favorite song by Pierce.
The Wagoneers “Atlanta”
from The Essential (self 2011) —A reissue of great music, put out by this Monte Warden project, if you missed them first time around check them out now, great stuff.
James McMurtry “RED RIVER VALLEY”
from Dark River: Songs of the Civil War Era (Blue Corn 2011) —Austin artists with wonderful takes on these civil war era tunes, also includes Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves, Rich Brotherton, Warren Hood, Rita Hoskins, John Dee Graham, and many more, great songwriting from the 1800's.
J.D. Souther “Best Of My Love”
from Natural History (EOM 2011) —J.D. Souther will bring his many hits and great chops to the Old Rock House listening room series on October 20.
