Silliness prevailed at Kirkwood Station Brewing Company on Friday as the Brave Combo flash mob arrived. Combo's bread and butter sound is polka, and dancers could not be contained as "Must Be Santa" reigned then "The Hokey Pokey" put them all in.
If Brave Combo accomplished nothing else on Wednesday night, it restored the Hokey Pokey to cultural relevance. And that's no mean feat.
Deck the halls with boughs of great music this season. 88.1 KDHX presents KDHXmas 2011: A Holiday Sampler -- 12 festive tracks, recorded live at KDHX.
As the years pass and our resiliency and zest for living may diminish, we need a means to gauge the extent of the damage. Christmas music is just this instrument and rebellious polka stalwarts Brave Combo hereby prove themselves the scientists to wield it.
When you think of Brave Combo you may think of polka, but when it comes to dance music, the Texas legends have so much more up their sleeves. Hear the holiday-themed performance, recorded live at the Gramophone night club in St. Louis on December 4, 2009, and broadcast exclusively for KDHX and the Musical Merry-Go-Round.
