As night descends on Kansas City and Middle of the Map Fest, St. Louis' Dots Not Feathers and their assorted company of boyfriends and friends wait outside the Riot Room for load-in. It is 6:30 p.m. before the crew hauls its gear on and around the stage.

The Demo feels like a church's basement. Visitors to the club enter another dimension where worship is optional since a basement avoids the light of day.

An all-local bill at the Firebird on Saturday brought a few St. Louis favorites to the stage, including Wildeyed, Union Tree Review, Palace and Dots Not Feathers.

On a dreary February night, Stephen Baier moves through Shock City Studios. Dots Not Feathers' central songwriter has to be reminded to slow down: His brisk shuffle hurtles him back towards the studio where Ryan Myers, Jessica Haley, Katie Brookings, Nick Blackburn and Chris Dickey await his return.

Closing out this year's installment of An Under Cover Weekend in the usual grand style, five St. Louis bands -- Arthur and the Librarian, Last to Show First to Go, Palace, Dots Not Feathers and Via Dove -- raised the bar and left the crowd anticipating next year's party at the Firebird.

The STL Loud 4 showcase took place at Pridefest 2012 in Tower Grove Park and hosted a flurry of amazing acts.

The summer of 2010 saw the emergence of incredible growth of the St. Louis music community.

The Firebird played host to a trio of bands that make me happy to live in St Louis.  

St. Louis' own Dots Not Feathers opened the night of beautifully sentimental Midwest pop on Friday night at the Firebird.

With the help of Dots Not Feathers, Off Broadway hosted some fine folk music Wednesday night.
