Remix deluxe: An interview with Penguin Prison

Chris Glover is a Manhattan-born musician and remixer who has risen to prominence via his Myspace page and sterling reviews from various indie blogs. Two of his songs, "Golden Train" and "Animal Animal" became indie radio darlings almost overnight and Glover’s remix work for artists like Goldfrapp and Marina & the Diamonds vaulted him into the big leagues of remixers for hire.

It was a hot and sweaty electro party last Thursday at the Firebird. The KDHX Countdown to Tron: Legacy party hosted by Kate from Beep Beep Boop Boop was a smash with local DJ talents Kate, Johnny Orr and DJ Coreyography, classic arcade games, glowing body art, a Ducati and the epic bit-crushed symphony of Daft Punk’s film score.

Wallpaper. brought its poppy electronica from Oakland, Calif. to St. Louis for a show at the Gramophone on September 18, and Eric Frederic took the time to chat with me while driving through Missouri. The duo's 2010 release, Doodoo Face (on Eenie Meenie records) encapsulates a party: funky bass lines, weird noises, distorted vocals and playful lyrics.
