Every year I head to Lafayette, La. for an international spring festival with little or no idea of the bands I will see. The quality of musical performers is outstanding, and I find one or two bands that become a favorite that I place on my future "must see" list.
Unique: 1. Having no like or equal. 2. Being the only one of a kind. 3. Highly unusual. All of these definitions apply to the Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge, La., which began in 1960.

After a seven-hour sojourn with stops at Williamsburg's Crane's Country Store, the inimitable Ozarkland and Columbia, Mo. for alcoholic slushies from Tropical Liqueurs, the crew of Stephen Baier and Nick Blackburn of Dots Not Feather, Joel Burton of Bear Hive and myself find our hotel room in the Hilton Garden Inn.
With only two earnest SXSW Music nights left, and an overstuffed head of unforgettable memories and music, I set out with a now insatiable appetite for more. More venues, more music, more Austin, as much as possible, as much as I could live; the unfortunate end to the sheer dreamlike sequence I'd been savoring was looming.
