Legend has it that Fitz and the Tantrums formed around an organ -- band leader Michael "Fitz" Fitzpatrick's Conn electronic organ to be precise. Keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna, who has been with the band from the start, took that organ-driven sound and ran with it.

Recently, a cab driver asked me what I'd been listening to lately, and when I told him that I'd started playing Fitz and the Tantrums' new release "More Than Just a Dream" he replied that the band had been very popular lately, and his tone was not without a hint of derision.

As a proud Mizzou alumna, I was tremendously excited to attend the 2011 Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia, Mo. for the first time last weekend. Now in its fifth year, this mid-Missouri celebration of food and music takes place in the streets of downtown Columbia and partially on the Mizzou Campus in beautiful Peace Park.
