A good tribute show occurs on a narrow road bordered by nostalgia and cover-band schlock. The road gets slippery when the band being honored was a batch of local boys done good. For the second Uncle Tupelo tribute show in just over three years, eight St. Louis bands kept it on the road while having a hell of a lot of fun.

The pre-Fourth of July party at St. Louis' Gramophone brought Austin stalwart Jon Dee Graham to the stage for a night of story and song, showcasing the humor and heart that won Graham the honor of 2006 Austin Musician of the Year.

An assortment of local bands played tribute to Uncle Tupelo in front of a sold-out crowd at Off Broadway. The crowd rocked, swayed and sang along to songs that they knew and loved. It proved to be another affirmation of how much this city loves local music and the radio station that supports it.
