Portland, Ore.'s Horse Feathers, helmed by frontman and singer/guitarist Justin Ringle, is not to be missed. Once a collaboration with Peter Broderick, Horse Feathers has grown into an artful orchestra complemented by fine singing and poetic lyrics.

It was a mesmerizing night at the Firebird Thursday night as Horse Feathers wooed the crowd with their deep, gut-wrenching melodies. The mellow crowd sang and swayed along. Indian Blanket and Matt Bauer opened up the show.

Last night Off Broadway played host to a contingency of music fans excited to hear and witness Horse Feathers' subdued, folk-Gothic-orchestral magic in the flesh. Opener, Caroline Smith (whose vocals sound surprisingly like Joanna Newsom) and the Goodnight Sleeps offered a toe tapping, hand clapping, high energy, folk-rock show.

A solemn brand of folk music swept through Off Broadway Wednesday night when Hello MTN and Caroline Smith opened for Horse Feathers.   The rise and fall movements of Horse Feathers were indicative of an evening which led to a solid crowd who provided their ever attentive ears to the crescendo of the artists on stage.
