On March 30, 2010 the proud sons and daughters of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, acting through their elected representatives, approved a resolution designating Sam Bush as "The Father of Newgrass Music" and Bush's hometown of Bowling Green, Ky. "The Birthplace of Newgrass Music."

As a proud Mizzou alumna, I was tremendously excited to attend the 2011 Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in Columbia, Mo. for the first time last weekend. Now in its fifth year, this mid-Missouri celebration of food and music takes place in the streets of downtown Columbia and partially on the Mizzou Campus in beautiful Peace Park.

Sam Bush 7/8/10

The mandolin has never been the same after Sam Bush, originator of "newgrass" and an icon to hundreds of acoustic-oriented musicians to follow his lead. "The King of Telluride" and his guitarist Stephen Mougin paid a visit to the KDHX studios for a live performance.
