A good tribute show occurs on a narrow road bordered by nostalgia and cover-band schlock. The road gets slippery when the band being honored was a batch of local boys done good. For the second Uncle Tupelo tribute show in just over three years, eight St. Louis bands kept it on the road while having a hell of a lot of fun.

The Dive Poets are often described as an alt-country band, but the sound of "My Papa's Song," the lead track on their long-in-coming new album "Married to Your Ghost," is pure, loud rock 'n' roll, fueled by country and soul, as the best rock 'n' roll so often is.

The Dive Poets 11/20/09

The Dive Poets describe their sound as "melodic roots rock"; add to that some guitar crunch and Midwestern lyrical impressions, and you have a hint of what they're after.
