New Orleans rockers the Revivalists brought their unique sound back to Old Rock House on Wednesday night for a full-force, nearly two-hour set; and the fairly packed house of loyal fans ate up every second.

A longtime fan of Florida-based swamp rockers JJ Grey & Mofro, I was excited to herald their return to the Pageant just nine months after they rang in the New Year at the venue; but my excitement only grew stronger when it was announced that the opening act would be funky New Orleans rockers the Revivalists.

It's pretty much impossible to pigeonhole New Orleans-based band the Revivalists into any one genre, because their music is truly a fusion -- a delicious mix of rock, soul, funk and jazz with a dash of reggae and even hip-hop thrown in.
