Some of my favorite releases this year were songs featured on the upcoming December 27th Sonic Space yet these releases stand out as full, well-rounded works of art. There were also a handful of honorable mentions including La Luz’ self-titled album, Black Marble’s Fast Idol, Flying Lotus’ Yasuke, Brothertiger’s EP New Life, Neal Francis’ In Plain Sight, Parcels’ Day/Night, Roosevelt’s Polydans, and Courtney Barnett’s Things Take Time, Take Time. The local releases Moonglow by iLLPHONiCS and Infinite Will by Obviously Offbeat are beautiful culminations of each artist’s best work, that comes as a gift of light, accessible to many.
