Call and Response

Paul Artspace has partnered with GEDOK to present two exhibitions to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the sister city partnership between Stuttgart, Germany and St. Louis, MO, USA. The first of these is now open, presenting current American photography in the vhs-photo gallery in Stuttgart.

The Stuttgart exhibition, "VOTE for…presents St. Louis artists," refers to the upcoming presidential election in the US and how campaign advertising dominates news coverage and political events around the world for months. The American photographers included in the exhibitions encourage us to examine democratic values such as justice, freedom, and equality.

The second exhibition, "Call and Response", will take place in St. Louis at The Bermuda Project and includes artists representing Stuttgart as they contemplate current events from their perspective.

The exhibitions are supported by the city of Stuttgart and the St. Louis-Stuttgart Sister Cities organization.

Participating artists (Stuttgart): Nate Burell, Jennifer Colten, Jess T. Dugan and Vanessa Fabbre, Jen Everett, Nate Larson, Drew Nikonowicz, Julia Wenz, Peter Franck and WORK / PLAY.

Participating artists (St. Louis): Peter Franck, Peter Haury, Nicole Kather, Traci Kelly, Bruno Nagel, Eva Schmeckenbecher, Thomas Ulm, Julia Wenz
