Cinco De Mayo at Home
We know that the Cinco de Mayo festival means a lot to our local community. It means much needed revenue. It gives us a chance to show off our creativity and our culture.
And while Cinco in the streets won't happen in 2020, the Cherokee Street Community Improvement District, Do314 and the Cinco De Mayo on Cherokee Street Organizers are putting together a virtual event - currently named Cinco de Mayo at Home, which will be streamed online on Saturday May 2nd.
The goal of this virtual event is to boost morale, keep Cinco energy and creativity alive, to support our vendors and partners that make Cinco happen every year, and to raise funds for the businesses and employees on Cherokee Street that need the support during COVID19.
PARTICIPATING IN CINCO DE MAYO AT HOME:
The event will include pre-recorded video and live streaming. Which is where we need your help.
We're encouraging folks to create pre-recorded short videos (2-10 minutes in length) that highlight a piece of the festival, including:
A Cinco food vendor showing how they make their Cinco de Mayo tacos or elote
A Cinco musician sharing a 5-10 minute performance.
A Cinco bartender showing how they make their margarita or mojito
A People's Joy Parade participant sharing a clip for the virtual people's joy parade
A wrestler or dancer that would have performed at Cinco de Mayo showing off their moves
A fortune teller sharing a short virtual Cinco de Mayo reading, or a face painter demonstrating their craft.
A video message from a community member, small business or local organization for our community on Cinco de Mayo
