From John Wendland:
I'll give my usual annual disclaimer that I only hear a small fraction of the deluge of music that comes out every year and that if I had to make this list a week later it could be significantly different. My only criteria is that I'm convinced that I will still love hearing these albums a decade (and more) from now. It was really painful to not mention these albums below so I'll just, slyly, drop in these names where they won't be noticed - Kelsey Waldon - They'll Never Keeps Us Down, Lianne La Havas - Lianne La Havas, Brandy Clark - Your Life is a Record, and Bettye LaVette - Blackbirds. Happy reading and (hopefully) listening!
