2023 Annual Polycystic Kidney (PKD) Foundation Walk for the Cure

The 2023 Annual St. Louis Walk for the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation is Sunday, October 8, from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM at Tower Grove Park, Sons of Rest Pavilion, St. Louis, MO. Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic kidney diseases. PKD causes uncontrolled growth of fluid-filled cysts in both kidneys, often leading to kidney failure. There are an estimated 600,000 Americans and 12.4 million people worldwide who have been diagnosed with PKD. There are probably many more than that who are undiagnosed as it generally is not discovered until someone reaches middle age. Once a person has kidney failure; transplant or dialysis are the only options to treat the damage the disease has caused. PKD patients are in urgent need of treatments and a cure.  The PKD Foundation is the only organization in the United States SOLELY dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for PKD. It was founded on August 20, 1982. The national office is located in Kansas City, Missouri. The St. Louis PKD Community is part of over 50 PKD Communities across the United States. As Jean Sommer, the St. Louis Chapter and Walk Coordinator, said, “The Walk for PKD is in full swing. We are rallying walkers and collecting donations. We surpassed our goal last year and we plan on keeping the momentum going this year. The Walk for PKD is your opportunity to put your passion to end PKD into action! As our signature fundraising event, 100% of donations made to the Walk will go to critical PKD research to help find treatments and a cure.” Take the time today to register a team, register individually, join a team, and/or gather team members to register and donate. To register or donate, visit: www.walkforpkd.org/stlouis. Note: December 31 is the last day for collecting 2023 St. Louis Walk for PKD donations.

Our mission: WE GIVE HOPE. We fund research, advocate for patients, and build a community for all impacted by polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Our vision is to #endPKD. Visit www.pkdcure.org for more information about the PKD Foundation and the St. Louis PKD Community.
