Green Dining Week

The second annual Green Dining Week returns on October 17-23 featuring 17 Green Dining Alliance establishments.  Each day of the week will feature at least one GDA participant in which a portion of the total day’s sales will be donated to the Green Dining Alliance, a sustainability certification program for the St. Louis area. The Green Dining Alliance is an earthday365 program which aims to make businesses in the food industry more sustainable and environmentally friendly. The certification program focuses on 7 core areas: Recycling & Waste Reduction, Sourcing & Procurement, Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Chemicals, Awareness & Education, and Innovation. The GDA works with each restaurant through an extensive annual audit and reporting process to achieve their sustainable goals. It also celebrates each GDA restaurant’s achievements to help the public find and support local, green dining!

Choosing sustainability within the food industry is more difficult in a challenging economic climate. GDA Members work tirelessly to implement sustainable practices like recycling, composting, and food waste management and often take on financial burdens to use environmentally friendly to-go packaging and locally sourced food products. They constantly make energy-efficient upgrades like implementing LED lighting and scheduling regular refrigeration and kitchen equipment maintenance. GDA members are also social sustainable leaders in our communities and we should do our part to support them and our circular economies. Below is the list of GDA Members participating in the 2nd Annual Green Dining Week: 

Monday (10.17): Buzz's Hawaiian Grill (Tower Grove East), Bailey's Rooster (Downtown and South Grand) 

Tuesday (10.18): Salt + Smoke (Delmar and Hampton)

Wednesday (10.19): Perennial Artisan Ales, Kitchen House Coffee, Mission Taco Joint (Delmar Loop, Soulard, and St. Charles)

Thursday (10.20): Bailey's Range (Downtown), SqWires, and The Pat Connolly Tavern

Friday (10.21): Pizza Head

Saturday (10.22): The Wolf Café and Flavor 360 

Sunday (10.23): Crushed Red (Kirkwood and Clayton)
