Royal Tea

Winter Opera St. Louis – a non-profit professional opera company whose mission is to provide St. Louis with world-class operatic performances during the winter months – will be hosting its third annual Royal Tea hosted by Robin Wentworth on Saturday, February 16th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis Hotel in Clayton. The tea will include serenades by Winter Opera artists Nicholas Ward, Keith Boyer, and Clark Sturdevant. There will also be a silent auction. Guests are encouraged to wear hats, fascinators, and elegant daytime attire.

Clark Sturdevant has worked extensively for Winter Opera, starting as a chorus member in Winter Opera’s very first production of Rigoletto in 2008 to performing as Danilo in The Merry Widow. His previous work consists of more than thirty roles for multiple companies including Tamino (The Magic Flute), Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Le Comte Ory (Le comte Ory), Nanki-Poo (The Mikado), and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni).

Keith Boyer is among the most sought after classically trained vocal artists in the St. Louis area and was named the Best Male Opera Singer by the Post-Dispatch on their "Go! List". A successful Carnegie Hall debut with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra created numerous additional guest artist opportunities for Keith in classical concert, pops concert, and musical theatre across the region.

Baritone Nicholas Ward has been hailed as a performer of “effortless voice and agile presence” (Houston Press). Previously, he has sung with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Florida Grand Opera, the Crested Butte Music Festival, Central City Opera, Opera Fayetteville, Opera in the Heights, Union Avenue Opera, and many other companies across the U.S. Recent roles include Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Le Mari in Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Marco in Gianni Schicchi, and Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff.

The menu features a variety of elegant canapés and finger sandwiches, scones, desserts, a selection of teas, and a champagne toast. Tickets are $125, $75 of which is tax-deductible. Tickets are available on www.winteroperastl.org or at the box office at 314-865-0038.
