See “Summer of Soul” on an outdoor screen at the National Blues Museum summer block party for FREE before it hits theaters!! On Saturday, June 26th, join us for a Super Soulful Saturday, featuring live music and an outdoor showing of Summer of Soul! Don’t forget your chair.

9 p.m. Summer of Soul will be projected on our outdoor movie screen at the corner of Washington and 6th Ave.
You don’t want to miss this special pre-release viewing of Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s debut film. “Summer of Soul (... Or, When The Revolution Could Not Be Televised)” is a music-driven film centered around the story of the Harlem Cultural Festival, and features never-before-seen live concert footage of B.B. King, Nina Simone, Gladys Knight, Fifth Dimension, Stevie Wonder, and much more. The festival lasted six weeks during the summer of 1969 in Harlem’s Mount Morris Park (known today as Marcus Garvey Park). It was a celebration of Black and Latinx culture, history, fashion, pride, and unity. “Summer of Soul” premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.
