100th Anniversary Women's Voter Registration Rally Event

Hello, my name is Rachel Tibbs! I'm a 9th grader attending Metro High School in St. Louis, and I'm currently working with a small team of fellow high schoolers on the planning of an upcoming public event, a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first women's voter registration rally in St. Louis. The event will feature a variety of local activists, politicians and historians, to speak on the topics of suffrage history and the importance of voting now. We are also securing speakers who can offer different perspectives on this topic, through the lenses of the LGBTQ+ community and women of color.

This event is sponsored by Civitas and will be located in front of the Old Post Office in downtown St. Louis (where the original event took place in 1920), on October 16th from 4-5 P.M. Alderwoman Annie Rice, Alderwoman Heather Navaro, and a historian from the League of Women’s Voters have confirmed their attendance and will be definite speakers at the event. This event will feature a small audience of 20-25 people, socially distanced and mask wearing.

You are welcome to attend the event in person, however due to the risks of Covid-19, we fully understand if you would prefer attending the event virtually. We plan to livestream the entirety of the event on Youtube, on the following channel: https://youtube.com/channel/UCtAi8MZUucogyfW7Ip-Zn4g.
