First Friday

August 6, 2021, 5-8pm

The Foundry Art Centre proudly presents the next installment of its First Friday Series August 6th, 5-8pm. On the first Friday of each month, join the FAC and celebrate the arts. The FAC will be open for extended hours through 8pm for visitors to spend time in the galleries, meet resident studio artists, engage with the community, and enjoy a wide array of art programming, entertainment, and special events.

In the Grand Hall, artists of all ages will have the opportunity to create with hands-on activities that include all things Punk Rock, inspired by artist Destiny Mata’s exhibition The Way We Were. Explore your inner punk musician at the “Create Your Own Gig Poster” station, “Color Me Punk” coloring pages will be available for the younger crowd, and printmaking art projects will be available. All activities will be available for free to the public.

Solo Folk/Blues artist Monkh will perform a free concert from 6-7:30pm, with a cash bar on hand for refreshments. Exhibitions by David Johnson, Destiny Mata, and Bridget Murphy Milligan continue in the Main Galleries, and Foundry Studio Artist Jim Carlson’s exhibition Fantastic Vessels continues in the Ameristar Gallery.

“Everyone at the Foundry Art Centre is excited to host First Friday Open Houses,” explained Sean FitzGibbons, the Foundry Art Centre’s Executive Director. “Hosting these open houses every First Friday is a new way forward for the FAC, and it aligns perfectly with our mission of being a resource for art and creativity to our community.”

Events & exhibitions at the Foundry Art Centre are free and open to the public.
