This Is Me: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

On June 29th, 2019, at Innovation Hall in The Cortex, YourWords STL will present This Is Me: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow, a live theatrical performance of the writing of the 16-to-20-year-old residents of Marygrove Children’s Home. Professional actors and KTK Productions, under the direction of local director Kyle Kranes-Rutz, will bring to life the young people’s stories of persistence.

Prior to the show, audience members will have the opportunity to view the photography of the young women who live at Marygrove and work with YourWords STL. As part of a curriculum developed by YWSTL and St. Louis University’s College for Social Justice and Public Health, these residents photographed their environment and wrote corresponding pieces, which the actors will also perform. A live Q and A with the authors will follow the show.

Marygrove is a therapeutic residence, in Florissant, MO, for children who have experienced abuse or have nowhere to turn. YourWords STL uses tutoring, creative writing workshops, and interscholastic writing projects to help amplify the voices of underserved youth.

This event is sponsored by EdHub STL, the Regional Arts Commission, and the Saigh Foundation. All proceeds will go to YourWords STL programming.
