Poetry at the Point - February 26 with Kate Wylie, Rita Rouvalis Chapman, Richard Stimac

POETRY AT THE POINT on February 26 will feature poets Kate Wylie, Rita Rouvalis Chapman, and Richard Stimac. Poetry at the Point is held at THE FOCAL POINT in Maplewood on the 4th Tuesday of the month. This reading series invites local and regional poets, and established and up-and-coming poets to share their words. The event is free.

KATE WYLIE is a 2018 graduate of Webster University, where she received academic and departmental honors for her chapbook Too Close to the Fire, as well as the English Department’s Pearson House Award. Kate currently serves as an assistant softball coach at Webster Groves High School and as a peer review specialist at Graphic World, Inc. In her free time, she enjoys chasing her cats away from open bottles of various liquids and converting her fiancé to a Cubs fan.

RITA ROUVALIS CHAPMAN is a poet living in St. Louis, where she teaches high school English. Her poems have appeared in literary journals and anthologies both in the U.S. and Europe. She has an MFA from UMSL.

RICHARD STIMAC won the Millie Southwood Award for Poetry and worked closely with Eugene B. Redmond in graduate school. Eugene was a great influence on Richard's view that the poet speaks with another voice other than the personal. Richard currently finished a collection of poems titled "Letters of Forgetting with One Word of Hope." He lives in Brentwood and is CEO of a small software company.

The Focal Point is at 2720 Sutton. Parking is free in the lot on nearby Marietta Avenue or street parking. Readings start at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments available at the Maya Cafe next door.
