Poetry at the Point - June 25 with Jamie Wendt, Hart L’Ecuyer, and Sara Minges

POETRY AT THE POINT on June 25 will feature poets Jamie Wendt, Hart L’Ecuyer, and Sara Minges. Poetry at the Point is held at THE FOCAL POINT in Maplewood on the 4th Tuesday of the month. This reading series invites local and regional poets, and established and up-and-coming poets to share their words. The event is free. 

JAMIE WENDT’s debut poetry collection, Fruit of the Earth, was recently released from Main Street Rag. Her poetry has been published in Lilith, Raleigh Review, Minerva Rising, Third Wednesday, and Saranac Review. HART L’ECUYER is an industrial surrealist poet. A student of English at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, he has published poetry in places such as PARAGRAPHITI, Blue Lyra Review, Futures Trading, Blue River Review, The Bitchin’ Kitsch, Former People, Bad Jacket, The Conglomerate, Blue Moon, and Mannequin Haus. His sixth collection, For the Good of the Party, was published in February 2019.

SARA MINGES is a spoken word regional published poet, mental health advocate and motivational speaker, located in the greater Kansas City area. Her poems were chosen as 2014/2015 staff picks for the Johnson County Public Library Poem-a-Day Contest, and have appeared in the chapbook Salon II, and Prompts! A Spontaneous Anthology. Sara’s first full length book of poetry, Naked Toes, is about freedom, owning your personal story and reclaiming your superpowers. It is a book about embracing the human condition of love, loss, finding your voice and believing you are beautiful and worthy of happiness. 

The Focal Point is at 2720 Sutton.  Parking is free in the lot on nearby Marietta Avenue or street parking. Readings start at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments available at the Maya Cafe next door.
