Iris Dement: St. Louis Folk and Roots Festival

With special guest Evie Ladin Band

Singer-songwriter Iris DeMent headlines the 7th Annual Folk and Roots Festival, bringing her timeless voice and poignant lyrics back to The Sheldon stage! The multi Grammy-nominated artist has been called one of the “great voices in contemporary popular music” by NPR, and she been invited to collaborate with peers such as Emmylou Harris, John Prine and Steve Earle. From her acclaimed debut album, Infamous Angel to her most recent album setting the music of Russian poet Anna Akhmatova’s words to music, DeMent has become one of the most respected artists of her generation.

She is joined by Evie Ladin Band, performing an innovative mix of traditional, deep Appalachian banjo music with contemporary storytelling and a modern sensibility.
