Jesse Lége & Joel Savoy: St. Louis Folk and Roots Festival

With special guests Amythyst Kiah and Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons

This event is in the Sheldon Ballroom

Jesse Lége and Joel Savoy bring authentic Cajun music to The Sheldon Ballroom! A native of Gueydan, LA, Cajun Music Hall of Famer Lége grew up speaking Cajun French and is one of today’s most admired Cajun accordionists and vocalists in the world. Two-time Cajun French Music Association “Fiddler of the Year” Joel Savoy has played with Lége for the past 15 years. Since his early teens, the Grammy-winner has been dedicated to preserving and honoring Cajun culture, and has performed with artists such as John Fogerty and T-Bone Burnett.

Special guests Ben Hunter & Joe Seamons, hailing from Seattle, Washington, have delighted audiences nationwide with their combination of acoustic blues, field hollers, fiddle and banjo breakdowns, and early jazz.

Acclaimed “Southern Gothic” singer Amythyst Kiah, based in Johnson City, TN, is inspired by the likes of Son House, Olla Belle Reed and the Carter Family and mid-century country and R&B, augmented by her scholarship of African-American roots music.
